JONNY GREENWOOD
Jonathan 'Jonny' Richard Guy Greenwood was born in Oxford, England on the 5th of November, 1971.
He is married to Sharona, and has two kids, Tamir and Omri.
He attended Abington Boys School, where he joined the band 'On a Friday' with his elder brother Colin Greenwood. At first his role was to play harmonica, then he moved to the band's keyboardist and eventually the lead guitarist.
He went to Oxford Polytechnic to study Psychology. However, since he was the youngest in the band, the others all graduated two yeard before him, meaning he had to drop out of university mid-degree to persue a career in music.
Jonny is a very aggressive guitar player, and as a result of this he had to visit a doctor after 'The Bends' because of pains in his arm. He was diagnosed with repetitive strain injury and was told to wear a brace on his arm. The arm brace became a trade mark of his, although he doesnt seem to wear it anymore.
Many credit Jonny as being one of the most original and inspirational musicians around, usually Thom will come up with the bones of a song, and Jonny then arranges it, giving it its distinct sound.
Jonny is a multi-instrumentalist - he plays guitar, keyboard, harmonica, organ, synthesizer and the xylophone amongt many, many others. He dislikes the reverence given to guitars, and is just as happy to play another instrument.
